How Our Dog Training Classes Work
Start dog training with us in 3 easy ways: Orientation, Assessment or Initial Consultation (for private training).
Orientation is a prerequisite for any new client starting with The Paw Market wishing to join a foundation group class. This applies to new puppy guardians or newly adopted dogs or any family dog with little obedience manners experience.
Orientation will show you our approach to training, explain the guidelines of attending a group class and give you human skills with clicker training. This is a human only attended event, please leave your dogs at home this time.
To reserve a spot in Orientation you will be asked to create a user profile and reserve your specific date and time. Cost is $10*.
*If you purchase classes at the conclusion of your Orientation, $10 will be taken off your first class package.
For any new client (or existing client with new dog) whose dog has already been through obedience/manners training or more elsewhere and you want to skip over Manners or Agility 101 or higher.
During an assessment we will show you our approach to training and what to expect coming to group class. We will then guide you through cues your dog knows in order to recommend which level you fit in our program. Treat an assessment as if you were coming to a training session (i.e. prepared with all your normal training tools.)
To reserve an Assessment you will be asked to create a user profile and reserve your preferred date and time. Cost is $35 for half-hour with trainer.
For any new client with a dog who exhibits behavior challenges (including but not limited too: leash reactivity/pulling, fearful tendencies, jumping or resource guarding) or a guardian that just has the desire to work privately either at home or in our training center.
During an Initial Consultation we will gather a full history and lifestyle of you and your dog. We will find out your goals and expectations. We may ask to see cues your dog can do now so we have a baseline of skills. We will show you our approach to training and what to expect from working one-on-one with us. If time allows, we will start with some key training points or management techniques. After this appointment, we will provide you with a detailed write up of our meeting and behavior modification/training plan to meet your goals. Normally provided back to client within 48 hours of Initial Consultation.
Please note we do not work with dogs that have a bite history but we will be happy to refer you to qualified trainers that specialize in this type of behavior challenges.
To reserve an Initial Consultation you will be asked to create a user profile and reserve your preferred date and time. Cost is $90* for approximately 60 minutes with trainer.
Be sure to visit our cancellation policy information.
*standard IRS mileage charges will apply if we are coming to your home further than 5 miles from The Paw Market Training Center.
