Meet The Dog Trainer

Marnie Johnson is a Certified Pet Dog Trainer-Knowledge Assessed (CPDT-KA) Colorado native who has had dogs all her life. From the small gray & white mutt growing up, to multiple Golden Retrievers, a Labrador and now Pembroke Corgis, Suki & Bardo. While not a full competitor in any dog sport, Marnie has obtained the Canine Good Citizen on all her dogs and has dabbled in flyball, agility, Treiball, K9 Nosework and hunt trials. Maybe when the next puppy comes along that will change.

It was the Labrador that helped her make a life change about 15 years ago when she met dog trainers that convinced her to participate in AKC Hunt Trials. She obtained a Junior Hunt title on her Labrador and then started working for the same dog trainers by taking a leap of faith from the corporate world.

Her on the job training morphed into general care of all the facilities for training dogs, in additional to a public access boarding facility that offered Board and Train on site.

When it was time to move on, Marnie took a position in Longmont, Colorado at a local animal hospital. Her responsibilities ranged from increasing revenue in the boarding kennel (dogs and cats) to implementing dog daycare. This greatly increased her knowledge of pack styles, dog play and general dog care knowledge. While this position was very rewarding, she missed the one on one connection with the owners that training allows.

It was then that Zoom Room landed on her radar and she became a franchise owner of this dog training business in 2010. This franchise combined her passion for dogs and the desire to educate owners. That partnership ended in 2015.

Now training independently, Marnie continues to foster fun when it comes to dog and human education. Her favorite joy is celebrating anything that thrills her clients! From obtaining a solid ‘stay’ cue, a dog conquering the A Frame, to just getting their dog to lay down, each success is celebrated.
