Our winter at Canine Fine was spent teaching some new (to us) Obedience curriculum and assessing how it can bring added value to our students. By doing so, we have been able to adjust some of our criteria to streamline our coaching. Follow along as we explain how we have evolved Obedience to help you choose what is right for you.

REVIEW THE LEVELS

Manners 101 will remain our foundation level providing you all the mechanic and basic dog skills to excel in anything else you want to do with your dog as a team.

BEGINNER DOGS START HERE

Manners 102 is combining all the fun from our old individual Leash Walking, Recall and Stay workshop plus the added obedience distraction, duration and distance variables that build impulse control. This level will give you a great family dog.

NEED SOME LEASH MANNERS OR MORE?

Manners 103 had the biggest evolution. In this level, we coach you on how the physical reward (toy, treat, flyswatter, whatever) is no longer nearby but always part of the deal you have with the dog that payment will come. We have also incorporated the AKC Canine Good Citizen obedience parameters into this level. We fine-tune good house manners including but not limited to waiting for doors, leaving food alone and dealing with distractions out in the world (enthusiastic humans and cranky dogs!).

MY DOG ROCKS…but continuing education is FUN!

If you were on our wait list, for either the Canine Good Citizen prep class OR the Beyond the Backyard class, then you are ready to Open Enroll into Manners 103 at any time.

We hope we have updated the pre-requisites on your profile but if you run into any challenges with enrolling into one of our levels, please just call or shoot us an email to fix it. As always, if you have a class you would like us to hold let us know. We will coach what you want!
